NYSE -- The Dow plunged nearly 1,000 points Thursday after buzz that European Banks could halt lending because of Greece's debt problems.
The Dow was down over 995 points at one point in the afternoon before pulling back to the 600-700 point range.
Under current New York Stock Exchange rules, if the market falls 10% or more between 2:30 pm and 3pm, trading is halted for 30 minutes.
The Dow managed to pull back dramatically but still closed down some 350 points for the day.
