Leaders still looking for 10.8 percent in concessions
BAY CITY -- Bay City Commissioners continued work on the budget in a Monday night workshop. They reviewed proposed spending in accounts related to road work and the James Clements Airport. Meanwhile, city leaders are still looking for 10.8 percent in concessions from city employees (both union and non-union).
The city has a $1.6 million dollar deficit and needs the concessions to help balance the books, or layoffs may follow. Five police positions are also on the line. Mayor Charles Brunner said City Manager Robert Belleman will be directly involved with union negotiations from here through late June, when deadline requires the balanced budget to be reached.
