From Fabiano Brothers Inc. ...

Fabiano Brothers Inc. invite Mid-Michigan to celebrate the 125th anniversary of their company and the grand opening of their new state-of-the-art beer and wine distribution center in an eventful weekend that begins May 20 in Mount Pleasant and concludes May 23 in Bay City.

Fabiano Brothers will return to their hometown of Mount Pleasant to begin the festivities on Thursday, May 20. The iconic Budweiser Clydesdales will travel from St. Louis, Missouri to participate in the event which will take place on the corner of Broadway and Main Streets Thursday evening, starting at 4:00 p.m. The hitch team will be present to answer questions and discuss care for the Clydesdales. Visitors will be able to view the six-foot, 2,000-pound horses. The hitch will also take a tour along a designated parade route through downtown Mount Pleasant.

Fabiano Brothers Inc. serves retailers throughout the Central Michigan area and as far north as the Mackinaw Bridge.

The second day of the event continues with a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new beer and wine distribution center at the intersection of US-10 and Mackinaw Rd. near Bay City. This will take place at noon Friday, May 21, 2010. Invited to this event include company officers, local dignitaries, suppliers and representatives of the contractors who participated in the construction of the new facility. Friday evening has been reserved for employees of Fabiano Brothers to bring their families to the facility for private tours.

The approximately 2,000 retailers that Fabiano Brothers serve have been invited to tour the facility and view the Clydesdales on Saturday, May 22 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday evening will again be reserved for a private party for the company’s employees.

The facility and grounds will be open to the general public Sunday, May 23, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.  The Budweiser Clydesdales will be on display in their stalls all three days of the events in Bay City and will hitch up once daily for parades on the grounds.

The massive beer distribution center is the first of its kind to be built from the ground up in the last 20 years in the state of Michigan. The new building has a uniqueness older centers do not. Voice-activated order picking systems and gravity flow racks are used in the warehouse. New delivery systems include end-loading trailers with lift-gates. All delivery trucks are routed using a computerized program called Roadnet. Route drivers are equipped with handheld computers and printers for ease of invoicing.  Sales orders are transmitted via internet to a massive server at the facility.

Environmentally-friendly features of the distribution center include natural lighting from windows, white roofs, concrete-insulated walls, rainwater collection in holding ponds to water the grass, eco-friendly chillers and the use of recycled water to wash the trucks. Fabiano Brothers also boast one of the largest volume reclamation centers in the area, recycling weekly over 244,000 pounds of glass, aluminum, cardboard and plastic products combined.

The general public will have the opportunity to see the facility on Sunday. Most of the 191,000 square-foot distribution center will be open for public tours. The tour will lead guests through the main foyer, to the hospitality room, across the truck loading runway and through the controlled environment warehouse to view the picking areas and mountains of beer. The semi-bulk delivery trucks and route trucks will be on display, along with the Bud Light H-1 Hummer.

Snacks and non-alcoholic beverages as well as viewings of the Clydesdales will be provided to visitors of the facility.

Fabiano Brothers Inc. invites the area to join in their celebration of 125 years of business and to join in their grand opening festivities.
