LANSING, Mich. (AP) - Some school districts across Michigan next week plan to offer menus filled with food from the state.

The school menus are timed to coincide with a statewide "Local Foods Week" that was proclaimed by Gov. Jennifer Granholm.

A three-day national "Farm to Cafeteria" conference begins Monday in Detroit.

The Holland Sentinel reports that Fennville Public Schools is among the districts participating in the event. The five-day menu is designed to promote healthy school meals and support Michigan food producers.

The Grand Rapids Press reports sample menus for the week include cherry burgers, asparagus, sweet potato chips, baby carrots and for dessert - from Battle Creek-based Kellogg Co. - Rice Krispies treats.

"Local Foods Week" runs from Sunday until May 22.
