(AP) -- Organizers say they expect about 30,000 people to participate Saturday in the 19th Annual Susan G. Komen Detroit Race for the Cure. The event starts at Comerica Park. Organizers say the Detroit race has raised $17.5 million for the fight against breast cancer since 1992.

The event includes a five kilometer competitive race, and five-kilometer and one-mile walks. The Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute has been the event's presenting sponsor for 18 years.

Nancy Brinker created the Susan G. Komen for the Cure organization in memory of her sister killed by breast cancer. It sponsors a road-running series and a range of other programs.
