Marine Corps 1st Lt. Matthew L. Kaczynski, son of Kathleen and Louis Kaczynski of Kawkawlin, Mich., was recently designated a Naval Aviator while serving with Training Squadron 22, Naval Air Station, Kingsville, Texas.
Kaczynski was presented with the coveted "Wings of Gold, " marking the culmination of months of flight training.
Kaczynski followed a training curriculum that included basic studies in engineering and navigation, training flights in simulators, aircraft familiarizations, basic and advanced instrument training, extended navigation flights, and landings and takeoffs aboard an aircraft carrier.
Kaczynski is a 2001 graduate of Bay City Western High School of Auburn, Mich. and joined the Marine Corps in December 2006.
