FARWELL (AP) -- Parents and children lined the hallway of a Farwell school where a meningitis vaccine was being administered.

The clinic at Farwell High School on Thursday came a day before a 14-year-old boy died.

Mathew Meyers was diagnosed with the illness last week. The recent Farwell Middle School graduate died early Friday morning.

The meningitis vaccine clinic was sponsored by the Central Michigan District Health Department and offered roughly 800 doses of the vaccine.

Physician Robert Graham tells the Morning Sun of Mount Pleasant the clinic can get more doses from other parts of the state if needed.

Farwell Superintendent Dave Peterson remembers Meyers as an excellent student and "just a great kid."

Farwell is in mid-Michigan.
