I-475 Bridge work to begin Wednesday in Flint
Bridge work including joint replacement, full depth deck repairs, deck patching, pin and hanger replacement, pedestrian fence work, cleaning and coating of structural steel and substructure repairs on two I-475 structures in the city of Flint, Genesee County begins Wednesday.
For the first week of the project, there will be four bridge closures over I-475:
Location: 14th Street at I-475
Description: This two lane two-way bridge will be closed and detoured.
Location: I-475 under turn lane south of Hemphill Road
Description: This single lane bridge (for left turns) will be closed and detoured.
Location: I-475 under turn lane north of Hemphill Road
Description: This single lane bridge (for left turns) will be closed and detoured.
Location: Second Street at I-475
Description: This three lane one-way bridge will be closed and detoured.
There will be various lane closures on I-475 depending on the bridge work over I-475.
The $8 million project is expected to be completed by October.
I-475 traffic update for Memorial Day weekend
(Beginning 3 p.m. today and continuing until Tuesday)
* I-475 southbound from the I-75/I-475 split north to Atherton Road in Genesee County will remain closed with traffic detoured.
* I-475 northbound will have one lane open from Atherton Road north to I-69
During the holiday weekend, motorists will be directed using the following posted detour route:
* I-75 traffic will be rerouted to the I-75/I-69 interchange, then travel east to the I-75/I-475 interchange.
After the holiday:
Northbound I-475
* Northbound I-475 lane from the I-75/I-475 split to Hill Road will remain open to local (Hill Road) traffic.
* Northbound I-475 will close between Hill and Atherton Roads.
* Through traffic will be redirected at the Hill Road interchange.
* One northbound I-475 lane will remain open from Atherton Road north to I-69.
Motorists will be redirected using the following posted detour route:
* Hill Road to southbound I-75 traffic (between Dort Highway
(M-54) and I-475) will be rerouted east on Hill Road to Dort Highway, then south to the I-75 interchange
* Motorists traveling westbound on Hill Road to southbound I-75 will continue west to the US-23 interchange, then head north on US-23/I-75 to the Bristol Road interchange, where they will follow posted detour signs
* Note: Eastbound and Westbound Bristol Road over I-475 is reduced to one lane in each direction with traffic shifted to eastbound lanes to accommodate bridge work
Southbound I-475
* Beginning Wednesday, June 2: Two lanes will be closed on southbound I-475 from I-69 south to Atherton Road. One lane will remain open.
* Beginning Wednesday, June 2: All traffic will be redirected at the Atherton off ramp.
* Beginning Wednesday, June 2: Southbound I-475 will be completely closed from Atherton Road south to Hill Road.
* Beginning Wednesday, June 2: Traffic will be maintained on southbound I-475 from Hill Road south to the I-475/I-75 merge.
Motorists will be directed using the following posted detour routes:
* Traffic heading south on I-475 north of I-69
* Signed Detour for I-475 SB -- I-69 West to I-75 South
* Signed Detour for Hill Road - M-54 South - Dort Highway
* Traffic heading west on I-69
* Signed Detour for I-475 SB - westbound I-67 to Southbound I-75
* Traffic heading east on I-69 east of I-75 to M-54
* Signed Detour for I-475 SB -- M-54 South - Dort Highway
* Signed Detour for Hill Road - M-54 South - Dort Highway
* Traffic heading east on I-69 west of I-75
* Signed Detour for I-475 SB -- eastbound I-69 to Southbound I-75
Westbound US-10 patching begins June 1 in Bay County
The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will close one lane on westbound US-10, from west of Mackinaw Road to west of Seven Mile Road (at the median turnaround), in Bay County. The lane will be closed to accommodate routine maintenance work.
A single-lane closure (right lane) will be in effect during daytime hours, beginning Tuesday morning, June 1, until Thursday, June 3. The lane closure will begin at 8:30 a.m. each day and the closed lane will reopen by 7 p.m. each evening.
US-127 project scheduled to begin Tuesday, June 1
Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is scheduled to begin crack seal treatments, resurfacing, and culvert replacement work in Isabella County. Work extends 12.8 miles from the River Road bridge to US-10 Business Route.
This project is scheduled to begin Tuesday, June 1, with completion anticipated in August 2010.
Lane closures and traffic shifts will be in effect to facilitate this work. Motorists will have two lanes available from noon on Fridays until the following Monday morning.
M-115 improvements to begin Tuesday, June 1
MDOT is investing $6.2 million for resurfacing and intersection upgrades on M-115 in Clare County beginning Tuesday.
The work, which extends 7.3 miles from Pioneer Parkway northwest to US-10, also includes drainage and guardrail improvements, along with constructing left-turn lanes at various locations. Crews also will replace the culvert at Overton Creek.
Traffic will be maintained under flag control, along with shoulder closures as required, and through the use of a temporary signal during the culvert work, located just west of Vandecar Road in the village of Farwell.
Work is expected to be finished in October.
