(AP) -- Thunderstorms that raced across Michigan have knocked down trees, bringing scattered floods and blacking out at least 43,000 utility customers. CMS Energy Corp.'s Consumers Energy division says Monday's storms knocked out electrical service to about 22,000 of its customers. It says full restoration isn't expected until Tuesday night because of the widely scattered damage to its lines.
DTE Energy Co.'s Detroit Edison unit says about 21,000 of its home and business customers lost power but says service was being quickly restored.
Branch County resident Carly Havilane tells WWMT-TV she though a tornado was passing through when the storm hit. A lightning strike knocked down a tree that pierced her home.
