Road construction resumes after holiday weekend

I-675, Saginaw County

Northbound I-675 from Tittabawassee Road to the north junction with I-75 in Saginaw County recently reopened to traffic.

A full closure on northbound I-675 lanes from the south junction with I-75 north to Tittabawassee Road, with traffic detoured to I-75 (where motorists may access southbound I-675) began today, Tuesday, June 1.

This closure, which will accommodate ongoing bridge work, is expected to be in effect for approximately four weeks, through the end of June.

Tittabawassee Road to the north junction with I-75 will remain open.

 

US-127 road and culvert replacement project underway

The Michigan Department of Transportation has begun road and culvert replacement work in Isabella County.

Work, which extends 12.8 miles from River Road bridge north to the US-127 Business Route, includes chip seal treatment and resurfacing, along with intermittent culvert replacements.

Traffic will be maintained using lane closures and traffic shifts. Two lanes will remain open from Fridays at noon through Monday mornings.

The work should be completed by August.

 

M-138 roadwork begins today

MDOT is scheduled to begin work today on M-138 over the Constant DuRussell Drain in Bay County.

The project includes resurfacing, deck patching and painting. One lane will be maintained in each direction with traffic shifted.

The work should be finished by July.


M-24 signal installation to begin June 2 in Lapeer County

MDOT is scheduled to begin work to extend the center left-turn lane on M-24. Work begins just south of Burnside Road to south of Pine Lane.

A minimum of one lane will remain open in each direction with traffic maintained under flag control.

The work should be done by late June.


M-13 project begins today in Bay County

MDOT is scheduled to begin night work on M-13 in Bay County.

This work on M-13 is located at one of three locations included in the overall construction project, which includes resurfacing work. 
    
Remaining projects are located on M-46 from Gaslight Lane to Andrews and M-58 from Warwick Street to State Street. The work schedules for these projects will be announced.
  
One lane will remain open in each direction until the project is finished in mid-June.


M-21 bridge repairs to begin June 2 in Genesee County

MDOT is scheduled to make minor bridge repairs on two M-21 bridges in Genesee County. Crews are scheduled to complete work over the CSX Railroad and Swartz Creek. The project includes deck patching and wall repairs, along with joint waterproofing and guardrail, curb and gutter, and sidewalk repairs. Work is expected to be completed by the end of this month.
  
A minimum of one lane will remain open in each direction across both bridges.

This $252,000 project will serve motorists by extending the life of the bridges for years to come.

 

I-75 carpool lot resurfacing begins Wednesday, June 2


MDOT is scheduled to begin work at the I-75 carpool lot, located at Dixie Highway. Work includes expansion of the existing lot and lighting improvements.

There will be no disruption to traffic and all existing parking spaces in the carpool lot will remain open while the lot is expanded.

The work is expected to end in June.
 

Work on 20 I-475 bridges scheduled in Flint

MDOT is scheduled to begin work Wednesday on 20 I-475 bridges in the city of Flint, Genesee County.

The project includes joint replacement, deck repairs and patching, pin and hanger replacement, pedestrian fence work, cleaning and coating of structural steel, and repair work beneath the bridges. Overall bridge work is expected to be completed by mid-October.

Four bridge closures are scheduled to begin during the first week of work:
-  The 14th Street bridge over I-475 will be closed with traffic detoured.
-  The turn lane under I-475 south of Hemphill Road will be closed and detoured.
-  The turn lane under I-475 north of Hemphill Road will be closed and detoured.
-  The Second Street bridge over I-475, a three-lane, one-way bridge, will be closed and detoured.
Intermittent lane closures will be in effect on I-475 to accommodate this work. MDOT will announce anticipated lane and ramp closures as work progresses.

CA Hull Company, Inc. of Commerce Township is the contractor on this $8 million project, which includes a two-year paint warranty on the bridge.


M-83 southbound traffic detoured in Saginaw County

Bridge work on M-83 in Frankenmuth Township, which began in mid-May, will continue with southbound traffic rerouted.  Beginning this afternoon, traffic will no longer be maintained using an alternating two-way temporary signal. This new southbound detour will relieve incoming traffic congestion.

This $842,000 project, located between Curtis and Townline roads (just south of Bronner's), includes bridge replacement and approach work.   
  
For the duration of this project, southbound commercial truck traffic will be rerouted to West Genesee Street (which becomes Junction Road) to Dixie Highway, then back to southbound M-83.

Southbound car traffic will be rerouted via West Jefferson Street, Flint Road, Dehmel Road, and Busch Road, then back to southbound M-83. Northbound traffic will continue travel on M-83.

The project is expected to be completed by mid-August.
