(AP) -- Two Canadians accused of helping a pilot smuggle drugs into the U.S. at a small Michigan airport have pleaded guilty in federal court. Matthew Moody and Jesse Rusenstrom pleaded guilty Tuesday to possession of marijuana and a stimulant drug called BZP.
They were caught in November after a Cessna crossed the U.S. border to deliver drugs at a small airport in Sandusky, Mich., 90 miles northeast of Detroit. A border agent flying a helicopter was suspicious and used a spotlight to keep track of their SUV. Agents recovered about 100 pounds of marijuana and about 500,000 ecstasy tablets worth $1 million to $2 million.
The men are from the Windsor, Ontario, area and have been in custody since the bust. The Cessna escaped.
