The Saginaw County Mosquito Abatement Commission has issued a mosquito alert.
Rain in mid-May created the perfect breeding ground for mosquitoes, and now they are hatching.
As a result the commission’s traps are collecting mosquitoes at six times the normal rate for this time of year.
The commission has extended it spray shifts, added a Saturday evening spray shift, and increased resources for community-wide spraying for adult mosquitoes. This will continue until the mosquito population is reduced.
On Tuesday, June 1st agency says it received 270 complaint calls regarding bad mosquitoes.
If you’ll be outside you’re being encouraged to take insect repellents with you for protection.
