(AP) -- Graduates of Kalamazoo Central High School had a high-profile guest speaker at their graduation ceremony. President Barack Obama gave the commencement speech Monday evening for the southwest Michigan school. Kalamazoo Central won a nationwide competition called the Race to the Top High School Commencement Challenge to have Obama speak at graduation.
The ceremony was moved to 5,000-seat University Arena at Western Michigan University to accommodate a larger crowd. Each of the 300 graduates will get eight tickets to the ceremony. An additional 3,000 students at the district's three high schools were also able to get tickets but the event wasn't open to the general public.
