(AP) -- DETROIT - Plans are in the works to build a $15 million permanent exhibit at Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn focusing on innovation in American auto racing and the behind-the-scenes culture of the sport.
Henry Ford Museum is part of The Henry Ford, a suburban Detroit historical attraction that includes Greenfield Village.
The Henry Ford President Patricia Mooradian announced plans Thursday for the "Racing in America" exhibit.
Fundraising is under way, and it's expected to open in two to three years.
The 22,000-square-foot exhibit will offer an overview of American racing history and achievements. It will include stock car racing, drag racing, road-racing sports cars, Indy cars and land-speed record cars.
