The Cancer Survivors Celebration kicks off Tuesday, June 22nd from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Genesys Hurley Cancer Institute,

That's where Esther J. Mattox will be. Esther is a local breast cancer survivor. She was diagnosed back in 2004 and fortunately fought back and is now a survivor.

Below is a poem from an unknown author she says helped her along her journey.

"It (cancer) cannot cripple love, it cannot shatter hope, it cannot eat away at peace, it cannot destroy confidence, it cannot ruin friendship,it cannot shut out memories, it cannot silence courage, it cannot invade the soul, it cannot ruin the spirit, and it cannot reduce eternal life"
