Fire on railroad bridge in Bay County

BAY COUNTY -- FRANKENLUST TOWNSHIP, Michigan - Authorities are investigating a suspicious railroad bridge fire in Frankenlust Township.

About 30 firefighters battled the blaze at the bridge near Stone Island Road just East of Euclid Avenue that began about 4:30 p.m. Monday and lasted more than five hours. No injuries were reported.

Monitor Township Fire Department Capt. Jim Meier said the wooden bridge that spans the Squaconning Creek in Bay County is standing, but fully charred.
