FLINT -- NBC25 has learned that an earthquake was felt in the Mid-Michigan area a 1:41 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.
Reports say it was a 5.5 in magnitude and was centered in Ontario, Quebec in Canada.
The quake was felt at businesses in Saginaw and Flint, including Hurley Hospital where employees tell NBC25 the building “shook and swayed” and tables and chairs moved. Reports are coming in that the quake was felt as far south as Columbus, Ohio.
Residents from suburban Detroit to Port Huron and Saginaw have reported feeling the ground shaking Wednesday. There are no reports of damage.
Detroit police spokeswoman Yvette Walker tells The Associated Press that police personnel on the upper floors of the downtown headquarters reported feeling the quake.
There also are reports that it shook buildings across upstate New York and into Canada and Vermont. People from Buffalo to Albany and north to Massena on the St. Lawrence River say pets were startled and plates rattled at about 1:45 p.m. Wednesday.
The USGS said the quake occurred at a depth of 9.8 miles.

My name is Stephanie, I live in Grand Blanc and I totally felt the earthquake!! I was sitting in my apartment at my computer desk when I thought the desk and computer where moving! (It was getting a little hard to read...haha) I just thought maybe it was the wind.... weird. Just wanted to let you know i felt it here in Grand Blanc!
