MT. MORRIS TOWNSHIP -- It was an emotional night in Mount Morris Township as several police officers retired

Mt. Morris Police Chief Albert Ashley and four other officers are retiring this month.

Chief Ashley was the township's top for ten years and hired into the department back in 1990.

The other retiring officers date as far back as 1986.

The retirements come as township leaders look to trim costs.

Chief Ashley calls his retiremebt bittersweet.

"Over the last month a lot of people have asked me how I feel about retirement. The media is here. There's a lot of people here and I still think it sucks. The only good thing about it is my family. I can't thank Mt. Morris Township enough," said Chief Ashley.

His last day will be June 30th.
