In just two days, texting while driving could get you into serious trouble.

The texting while driving ban goes into effect July 1. The law says drivers cannot read, send or type text messages while operating a moving motor vehicle.

State police say they will be looking for drivers who aren't paying attention.

We talked to some Mid-Michigan drivers to see what they think about the new law.

"I think the texting ban is a great idea," said Amy Ostrander. "People cannot text and drive at the same time"

"I think it's a great thing," said Lori Janca. "I think kids think they're pretty invincible."

A first offense will cost you $100 and repeat offenses carry a fine of of $200.

Michigan is the 24th state to ban drivers from texting.
