I-69 westbound on and off-ramp closures scheduled to begin
MDOT will close westbound I-69 on and off-ramps to Elba Road in Lapeer County, beginning next week.
Motorists traveling on westbound I-69 will use the following detour routes:
The westbound I-69 off-ramp traffic will be closed Wednesday, July 7, with traffic rerouted to westbound I-69, then to the M-15 interchange, where they will follow the loop to eastbound I-69, where they can access Elba Road. This ramp is expected to reopen Wednesday, July 21.
The westbound I-69 on-ramp will be closed Friday, July 9, with Elba Road traffic rerouted to eastbound I-69, where they will follow the Lake Nepessing interchange loop to westbound I-69. This ramp is expected to reopen Friday, July 23.
Single-lane closures remain in effect on eastbound and westbound I-69 with traffic shifted as the MDOT continues road and bridge construction work on I-69 from M-15 to M-24. Motorists are separated using the temporary concrete barrier.
Sixteen portable message boards are in use to alert motorists regarding lane closures and upcoming work.
During 2009, crews completed work across eastbound I-69 lanes. The second phase of this two-year project began in April with work across westbound I-69 lanes. This project is expected to be completed by October 2010.
