Bill Kennedy saw police investigating a crime scene at a home across the street, but continued working Saturday morning.
He's building a woodworking shop next to his home in the 900 block of Remus Road in Deerfield Township. He worked until a neighbor asked him a strange question.
"He came running through and asked if I had a mannequin back there. I said no,” said Kennedy. “He said, then there's a body back there.”
Kennedy notified police of the terrible and shocking find. His backyard then transformed into the scene of a massive investigation.
The Saginaw Chippewa Tribal Police tell NBC25 they soon arrested 29-year-old Daniel Fuller on open murder charges. He's being held in the Isabella County Jail pending federal indictment, which could come as soon as Wednesday. Crimes on tribal property are charged in federal court.
He’s a parolee released last Tuesday after serving time for assaulting and fleeing police. Police say his victim is his own sister, 25-year-old Iva Fuller.
In the tiny community of Deerfield Township, Kennedy says the family torn apart by bloodshed needs to know, prayers are going out to them.
“I can’t imagine what they’re going through.”
