FLINT -- Hurricane Alex has caused the Flint Truck and Bus Assembly Plant to be closed Friday.
The hurricane has caused parts plants in Mexico and the southern U.S. to close.
Second shift will work Thursday night at the Flint factory, but the scheduled overtime shifts for Friday have been canceled.
Manufacturing of the new Chevy Silverado light duty pickup truck is slated to begin Monday. Plant officials say they hope to stay on schedule, but may have to push the launch to later in the week if parts are not available.
While normal operations are scheduled to resume Monday, GM will provide updates via the employee hotline: 877-473-5468.
