Flint will soon be hiring six officers and opening a bureau to fight blight.
Mayor Dayne Walling signed five ordinances today, designed to keep trash and abandoned vehicles off of Flint propertires.
Starting at the end of August, officers will issue tickets starting at $25 each to people who don't follow the city's ordinances.
"The city of Flint is not a dumping ground," Walling said. "We need residents and property owners all across the city to take care of their properties -- mow the grass, clean up the trash and improve the exterior of your properties for health and safety purposes."
The city council has approved these ordinances.
