Only 20 percent of women pursue technical careers.
This past weekend, a summer camp called Smart Girls tried to change that.
The two-day camp took place at Kettering University in Flint.
"For some reason, there seems to be some kind of gap in the belief that they can't do that," said Marci McGuire, president of Smart Girls Camp. "But they can do it. They can have a wonderful career and a wonderful life if you choose to do this stuff."
McGuire said that when the girls leave camp, they are able to name 30 percent more technical careers than when they arrived.
