It's a virtual field of dreams for future actors, journalists, screenwriters, TV producers, video producers, web designers -- right here in Flint. Mott Community College has transformed the former WFUM-TV studio that was housed in MCC's Mott Memorial Building on the main campus into a media arts and entertainment training center.
An open house for students and community members to view the facility and learn all about the features of the college's new Media Arts and Entertainment Technology (MAET) program is set for 5:30 to 7 pm on Monday, Aug. 16. Visitors will first assemble in the Mott Memorial Building auditorium and will be lead to the terrace level of the Mott Memorial Building where MAET courses are held, (accessed via the southwest elevator/stairwell). This event is free and open to the public.
MCC's Media Arts and Entertainment Technology program offers an Associate in Applied Science Degree and a Certificate of Achievement, focusing on the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to succeed in the fields of video, audio, cinema, web and multimedia production. The curriculum integrates a wide range of pre-production, production, and post-production experiences with the insights offered by media aesthetics, history, theory and analysis.
A heavy emphasis is placed on the creation of content and messages that are compelling, effective and of substantial quality. Graduates will find a wide range of professional employment, both in Michigan and the nation, including positions in the film industry, at radio and television stations, advertising agencies, production and post-production houses, school systems, non-profits and corporations. Other students can transfer to a four-year college or university to further their studies.
