TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (AP) - An Indiana fisherman has proof that the voracious Asian carp is alive and well in the Wabash River.

Brendan Kearns videotaped hundreds of fish jumping on the river near Montezuma earlier this month and posted the video to his website.

The video shows the fish leaping out of the water as Kearns' boat passes, with some landing onboard.

Indiana Department of Natural Resources spokesman Phil Bloom says the Asian silver carp is known for its jumping ability and can be dangerous to humans who can be struck as they leap.

Concerns over the carp have prompted calls for poison and other measures to stop their spread. Indiana plans to erect a mesh barrier to prevent the species from leaving the Wabash and migrating to Lake Erie.
