MidMichigan healthcare officials meet to make sure everyone is covered by insurance before and after the Healthcare Reform Act takes affect in 2014.

Representatives from health organizations, insurance companies, local charities, and government officials met at the Northbank Center at the University of Michigan Flint campus to identify and address the thousands who will be without insurance, even after the passage of healthcare reform.

Linda Hamacher, CEO of the Genesee Health Plan, says "We certainly know there will be an ongoing role for the health plan, and we know that people are going to need help getting into their kind of coverage that they'll be eligible for."

Right now, the Genesee Health Plan covers 25,000 Genesee County residents who would not normally have insurance.

Both Saginaw and Bay counties have similar programs.
