A high profile court case puts a small MidMichigan town in the spotlight, but few want to talk about it.
After NBC25 approached several people in Owendale, it got the same response, no comment.
For some, they know the defendant Cory Fritz. He's the high school softball coach accused of having a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old female player in 2005 and 2006.
For others, they know the alleged victim, or both.
Those who didn't know either say it's causing unwanted attention in their quiet community.
Behind closed doors at Tuscola County Circuit Court, potential jurors answer questions regarding the alleged victim and defendant.
Officials say more than half of the jurors they spoke with had previous knowledge of the case, putting the potential of a fair trial in question.
NBC25 spoke with both the prosecution and defense and neither want to change venues.
As far as the trial goes, the prosecution wants the alleged victim's identity hidden from cameras.
In exchange, the defense wants the defendant, Cory Fritz, off the cameras as well.
Reports say, Fritz could have fathered a child with the alleged victim and that the baby was born prematurely and buried.
Jury selection will continue Wednesday at 8:30am.
