Genesee County Great Start Parent Coalition is hosting its third Free Baby Shower for new parents, expectant parents and parents with children birth to age 5 on Sept. 25 at Courtland Center in Burton. Last year, more than 1,500 people attended the community-wide event.
This event, which runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., is designed to educate parents about the many resources available in the community that will help them provide a safe and healthy start for their children.
Children can receive free developmental, dental, vision, hearing, asthma and lead screenings. They can also get their fingerprints done for free. There will be free blood pressure checks for adults. Face painting, balloon twisting and a magic show are just some of the activities that will be available in the children’s area. Numerous child-based community services and the three hospitals will be at the event to share and connect families to needed resources. Light refreshments will be served. Great door prizes such as beds, car seats and the necessities needed for a child 0-5 will be raffled off. Registration is not required.
A limited number of MTA bus passes are available for those interested in attending. Please contact Dawn at 237-6161 to request a bus pass.
