Local charities feed more than a thousand people in Saginaw Thursday.
Parishioners on Patrol and the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan, along with other sponsors, helped distribute 14,000 pounds of food at New Mount Calvary Baptist Church.
Pastor Larry Camel, CEO of Parishioners on Patrol, says "This means support for our community. There are a lot of people in poverty that are having issues with food and being able to make ends meet. Our mission at Parishioners on Patrol is to try to be effective in the community to meet that need."
Thursday's giveaway is expected to feed 1,200.
