FRANKENMUTH -- It isn’t the Mackinac Bridge, but walkers say it’s just as fun.

Over 100 Frankenmuth area residents and visitors made their way along the .10 mile Covered Bridge this Labor Day.

During the annual tradition, walkers race across the bridge while being serenaded by German tunes played by the Bavarian Inn’s Linda Lee accordion playing.

Organizers say the Covered Bridge Walk is a fun alternative to Mackinac because it is close to Mid-Michigan families and there are fewer people. The event is free to the public, and athletes are rewarded with icy cold drinks and a good time after the not-so-long haul.
