(AP) -- A man who says he's serving a life sentence for a murder he didn't commit is asking the Michigan parole board to help free him from prison. Temujin (TEM'-uh-gin) Kensu get a change to address the board Wednesday. He's been in prison for 25 years for the 1986 fatal shooting of a man in Port Huron.
But Kensu says he was in the Upper Peninsula and nowhere near St. Clair County that day. The Michigan Innocence Clinic at the University of Michigan law school and some ex-law enforcement officials are supporting him.
Kensu was known as Fredrick Freeman in the 1980s. He's asking the parole board to recommend Gov. Jennifer Granholm commute his sentence and release him. St. Clair County authorities oppose it.
