(AP) -- The Michigan Department of Community Health is taking steps to educate the public about the flu. The department says the best way to protect against influenza is to get vaccinated each year. And officials are recommending that everyone 6 months of age and older receive a seasonal flu vaccine.

The 2010-2011 influenza season is nearing. The department says it's likely that 2009 H1N1 viruses and regular seasonal viruses will cause illness in the United States again this flu season.
