BIRCH RUN -- A race car driver was injured Friday night during a race at the Dixie Motor Speedway.
The accident happened just before 11:30 p.m. during the 50 Lap Enduro Race.
The promoter at Dixie Motor Speedway, Pam Parish, says the driver was Rick Miracle of Linden, who is the co-promoter at the Owosso Speedway.
Witnesses say another car hit Miracle’s car in the door.
Emergency crews used the Jaws of Life to remove Miracle after he complained of back pain.
He was taken to Hurley Hospital.
It was Miracle’s first race at Dixie Motor Speedway.
Parish says this is the first major accident at the speedway in two years.
Other races were delayed for about a half hour as the scene was cleared.
About 3,500 people were in attendance Friday night.
