(AP) -- More repairs may be required as part of a deal that could let Enbridge Energy Partners restart a pipeline that spilled oil into a Michigan river this summer. Federal regulators said in a letter to the company last week that they want dozens of pipeline anomalies fixed within 180 days of a restart. Dented pipeline that runs beneath the St. Clair River would have to be replaced within one year of a restart.
Democratic U.S. Rep. Mark Schauer of Michigan released the letter Monday. Regulators haven't approved a restart plan for the pipeline that runs from Griffith, Ind., to Sarnia, Ontario.
An estimated 820,000 to 1 million gallons of oil spilled from the pipeline near Marshall, Mich., in late July.
