FLINT (AP) -- A man suspected in a series of stabbings in Michigan and two other states is in no hurry to test the evidence against him.
Defense lawyer Brian Morley says he's waiving the right to have speedy hearings to determine if Elias Abuelazam goes to trial on a murder charge and five attempted-murder charges.
Morley appeared in court Friday in Genesee County in one of the attempted-murder cases. Abuelazam stayed in jail.
Five men were killed and nine more were injured in a series of stabbings in the Flint area. Abuelazam also is suspected in four attacks in Virginia and Ohio.
He was arrested in Atlanta on Aug. 11 while trying to catch a flight to his native country, Israel.
