Tuesday, U.S. Congressman Bart Stupak (D-Menominee) announced that the Ogemaw District Library has been awarded a $150,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to construct a 2,400-square-foot addition to the library. The grant funding is being provided through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

“This project will improve the essential services provided at Ogemaw District Library and create construction jobs in northern Michigan,” Stupak said. “Recovery Act investments like these ensure that rural area residents across the country have access to first-rate resources and public facilities.”
The USDA announced investments in 30 states that will create jobs by building and enhancing libraries in 129 rural communities across the nation. The $15 million in Recovery Act funding is being directed by USDA Rural Development’s Community Facilities Program.
USDA Rural Development’s Community Facilities program helps finance important community facilities for public use in rural areas. These facilities include child care centers, hospitals, medical clinics, assisted-living facilities, fire and rescue stations, police stations, community centers, public buildings and transportation.
