BAY CITY -- A walk to raise money for diabetes hit close to home for one Mid-Michigan family.
These two Bay City girls have type one diabetes.
That’s why despite the weather, the two of them and 500 other people participated in Bay Area's First Annual Walk to Cure Diabetes.
It took place at Veterans Park Sunday.
The sisters are in the process of transitioning from injection therapy to insulin pump therapy.
"Today has been very emotional, support from my family alone, and the amount of money that we raised, I’ve shed several tears, and the support for the community has been amazing," said Sarah Hendrickson, the mother of two girls with diabetes.
The walk was sponsored by the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
