The City of Saginaw orders an independent assessment of its police department after losing a $1-million lawsuit against a former officer.
A panel has made recommendations to the police department's internal affairs division.
Those will be revealed at Monday's city council meeting.
The review is to help improve the city's operations to protect taxpayer dollars.
City Manager Darnell Earley says, "We owe it to the residents to have that assessment made of what's working, what may not be working as well, and where are the areas we can improve the operations."
The city is appealing the $1-million settlement to former officer Danny McDole who sued the city for discrimination in 2005.
