(AP) -- Michigan is getting about $79 million from the federal government to help state programs that support private sector lending to small businesses. Michigan's allocation being announced Friday comes through the State Small Business Credit Initiative. It's part of a small business package recently signed into law by President Barack Obama.

The program is aimed at helping small businesses secure bank loans and expand in an effort to boost the economy.
