MOFFATT TOWNSHIP -- NBC25 is following developing news as we learn new information about the fatal crash that killed two U of M students Saturday in Arenac County.

Michigan State Police say the three other passengers who were seriously injured are in stable condition Sunday night at St.Mary's Hospital in Saginaw.

The crash happened before 9 a.m. on I-75 north in Moffatt Township.

Michigan State Troopers say all the passengers are Chinese nationals, and representatives from China are not allowing police to perform autopsies on the two U of M students.

Police say they're not sure why.

The crash is still being investigated, but police say the driver was distracted.

"A witness indicated there was erratic driving, and it may lead us to believe that there was a distraction of some sort," said Trooper Paul Frechette with Michigan State Police.

Michigan State Police say they have received several phone calls from concerned parents in China.
