(AP) -- NEWPORT, Mich. - Authorities say they are investigating the deaths of a 38-year-old Michigan man and a 15-year-old girl he's suspected of abducting as a possible murder-suicide.
State Police Detective Sgt. George D. Pratt told The Associated Press by phone from Reed City on Thursday that Raymond R. Bush of Newport and Taylor E. Manley, a Harrison High School student, both appeared to have been shot but that investigators are trying to determine what caused their deaths.
Pratt says Bush's ex-girlfriend told investigators he called her Wednesday morning and said he fatally shot Taylor and planned to kill himself.
Taylor was scheduled to testify against Bush on Wednesday on charges alleging he sexually assaulted her. State police issued an Amber Alert on Wednesday saying Taylor had been abducted and listing Bush as a suspect.
