ANN ARBOR (AP) -- A lawyer says she filed complaints against a state attorney who has protested the gay student government president at the University of Michigan.

Deborah Gordon is asking the Attorney Grievance Commission to investigate Andrew Shirvell and consider revoking or suspending his law license.

Shirvell is an assistant attorney general who has used a website to claim Chris Armstrong has a "radical homosexual agenda." He's also protested in his off hours at Armstrong's appearances.

Gordon filed complaints Friday on behalf of herself and Armstrong. She calls it an "issue of ethics and common decency."

Shirvell's lawyer, Philip Thomas, says he has free-speech rights. Shirvell returns to his state job on Nov. 5 after a leave. Armstrong dropped a request for a personal protection order.
