The Midland County Sheriff's office is investigating a single-car crash that killed a 37-year-old Lincoln Township woman and her 8-year-old son.

It happened around 7:19 Monday night on Saginaw Road approximately one-third mile east of Hope Road.

Police say the 1972 Chevrolet pickup, driven by Brandy Lynn Boggs, was heading west on Saginaw Road when it left the road, hit a business sign, a chainlink fence and a pine tree.

Boggs was transported to Mid-Michigan Regional Medical Center where she later died. Her 8-year-old son Jacob Matthew Ordiway was a passenger in the vehicle. He was taken to the same hospital, then transported to Flint's Hurley Medical Center by helicopter where he died.

Police said both were wearing seatbelts.
