Prostate cancer causes 37,000 deaths each year. It is most common in men with a family history, men over 50 and African Americans.
Because early prevention is the best protection, Covenant HealthCare is offering a free prostate cancer screening for men 45 and older on Thursday, Nov. 4 from 5-9 p.m.
Pre-registration is required and the event is limited to 300 men.
Men can reserve their spot by calling the Covenant HealthCare Cancer Care and Infusion Therapy Center at 989.583 5020 anytime before Wednesday, Nov 3.
Screenings will take place at the Saginaw Radiation Oncology Center (4141 Tittabawassee Road) on the corner of Tittabawassee and Mackinaw in Saginaw. Transportation will be available upon request, refreshments provided, and door prizes will be given out.
The screening takes 20 minutes and includes health history, prostate-specific antigen (PSA) blood test, and a digital rectal examination.
