Air Force Airmen Vance E. Newton, David S. Jung, Greg M. Fielding, Jeffrey M. Collins, Gabriel D. Lazurka and Andrea Farr graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.
The airmen completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.
Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
Newton is the son of Bridgett Overton of Grand Blanc. He is a 2010 graduate of Grand Blanc High School.
Jung is the son of Kim Sims of Tawas City.
Fielding, an Airman 1st Class, is the son of Greg Fielding of Columbiaville. He is a 2009 graduate of Lapeer West High School, Mich.
Collins, an Airman 1st Class, is the son of Michael and Carol Collins of Saginaw. He is a 2010 graduate of Heritage High School.
Lazurka earned distinction as an honor graduate. He is the son of Daniel and Linda Lazurka of Croswell. The airman graduated in 2007 from Croswell-Lexington High School and received an associate degree in 2010 from St. Clair County Community College in Port Huron.
Farr is the daughter of Laura Farr of Deford. She graduated in 2009 from Cass City High School.
