Approximately 45 percent of registered voters cast ballots in Tuesday's mid-term election, according to Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land.
Land had predicted a turnout of 52 percent (3.8 million voters). Michigan has 7.28 million voters. Approximately 54 percent of voters in the NBC25 viewing area voted.
The turnout compared to the last gubernatorial election in 2002 where 47.3 percent of registered voters cast ballots.
