SAGINAW -- A recently elected township trustee has been charged with soliciting an undercover sheriff's deputy for sexual favors.
Saginaw County Sheriff William Federspiel says newly elected Carrollton Township trustee Ronald Gnatowski fondled an undercover male deputy and asked him for sex.
Federspiel says it happened May 20, 2010, at Wickes Park in Saginaw.
The sheriff says it was a sting operation in response to several complaints of people approaching others for sex at public parks.
"There were at least three arrested that day for soliciting sex from my detective so this is an issue that we don't take lightly," Federspiel tells NBC25.
Gnatkowski faces a misdemeanor charge for the crime. The punishment could be 93-days in jail and/or a $500 fine.
Ge's scheduled to be in court November 30, 2010.
