(AP) -- Regents at the University of Michigan have extended the contract of the Ann Arbor school's current president through July 2014.
The school said Thursday that its governing board unanimously approved an additional two years to Mary Sue Coleman's current appointment. The extension begins in July 2012 when Coleman's second five-year contract was to expire. Coleman took over the university's leadership in 2002. Regents have directed Coleman to strengthen the school's academic mission, improve campus facilities and develop plans for a new capital campaign.
Coleman keeps her salary and benefits package with annual pay increases decided by the board.
Her compensation a year ago was $783,850 with a base salary of $553,500.
