Hundreds are fed through the generosity of others this Thanksgiving week.

Riverside Tabernacle in Flint hosted its 10th annual food giveaway Tuesday.

Scores of volunteers gave away whole hens, potatoes, apples, and other produce.

The Food Bank of Eastern Michigan, Panera Bread, and Sams Club provided the food.

Steve Krefeld, storehouse coordinator says, "There's such a need out there. I could tell you stories that would just tear you up. People who have been affluent and had a good life and then all of a sudden they're looking for a bag of food standing in line. I see the desperation in people's eyes and that's what we're trying to do here is help that a little bit. Put some joy back in."

Coordinators say they could serve around 1,200 people Tuesday.
